What you need to know…

Timeout is a weekend retreat Dec. 11-13 for 6th-12th grade students that will be held at Woodlands Christian Camp and Retreat Center in Cleveland, Ga.

We will leave the church at 4:30 Friday afternoon, riding in 15 passenger vans over to woodlands. I will have adults over the age of 25 driving the vans. We will arrive back in Dawsonville on Sunday morning, in time for the worship service at FBC Dawsonville. After the worship service, the retreat is officially over. There will be plenty of adult supervision 1 adult chaperone per 5 kids on the retreat coming from our church as well as the retreat center's staff to supervise.

The theme of the retreat is “Follower”. The theme verse is Matthew 16:24, which says “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

We will walk through and answer questions like:

Are we willing to ask what an authentic relationship with Christ looks like? And once we find out, are we willing to do something about it? How do we pursue a faith that’s real? The Bible goes into great detail to show what an authentic faith looks like. But the heart of this definition comes in a few words from Jesus, a short phrase, uttered by Christ at the beginning of His ministry. “Follow me.”

The way this will be done throughout the weekend through 3 worship services, 4 small groups sessions, and 4 devotions the students will do on their own. I have documents for parents that will be sent out prior to the retreat that will explain what your child will be taught at the retreat in more detail.
